Social Justice

The IMPACT (Improving Mental-health and Promoting Adjustment through Critical Transitions) lab at Loyola University Chicago is fully committed to fostering diversity, inclusion, and equity within our community and beyond. We recognize all individuals equally regardless of their race, ethnicity, nationality, gender, religion, sexual orientation, age, and socio-economic status. We acknowledge any individual's right to pursue a career in academic or practical clinical psychology, regardless of their background. We strive for unity and believe it is our responsibility to acknowledge discriminatory actions and current injustices that severely impact marginalized populations. Among our principal investigators, research assistants, graduate students, and participants, we have a zero-tolerance policy regarding discrimination, racism, or harassment of anyone for any reason. We are cognizant of the stigmatization that surrounds mental health, particularly in diverse and minority communities, and strive to dismantle this stigma. We hold ourselves to the highest standards when it comes to social justice and anti-racism and endeavor to embody these principles within our team and in our ongoing work. In our cultural humility and striving, we welcome input and feedback.
